Exhibition by Fergus Tibbs

with contributions from Jamie Donald, Maike Statz and Owen Weaver.

Hosting infrastructure is an ongoing project by Fergus Tibbs which explores ways of creating the spaces and objects needed for gatherings and communal experiences. At the heart of the project is a re-usable collection of materials, the ‘Hosting Infrastructure Kit’. This can be assembled in an unlimited number of ways to react to different sites and needs. Using the kit often has a practical starting point, to build seating, stages, tables, DJ booths, bars etc. The kit can then be used for testing out new ways of making interventions into space acting as a 1:1 model.

During the exhibition, Hosting Infrastructure (Isotop Version) Fergus Tibbs will experiment with the improvisational possibilities of the kit. With no pre-decided outcomes or plans, the show will use the kit of materials as a way to quickly try out ideas. The audience will be invited into the conversation and even be able to contribute to making changes and adaptations to the installation.

To explore further ways of using and thinking about the Hosting Infrastructure Kit, three collaborators will join at points during the exhibition. Artist and writer, Jamie Donald, Interior architect and artist, Maike Statz and percussionist Owen Weaver. They will re-imagine ways the kit can be used and how it can relate to the visitors and the site.
